Why does a user still have access to assets that I restricted them from with an access policy?

I created an access policy for a user in Hyperview and setup the access control for certain assets. I expect them to not have access to those assets. When the user logs in, they still have full access to all of the assets that I restricted them from.

User is an Administrator
The most common scenario for this type of issue is that certain user roles do not follow the restrictions set by access policies or access control. The administrator user role in Hyperview does not follow the guidelines set by the access policies in the system as they need full system access for administration tasks. Data Center Manager, Power User, and Read Only User roles do follow the rules created by the access policies.

Check the role associated to the user in Hyperview and ensure that they are set to a role that is limited by the access policies setup within the system.

Hyperview User Roles:

  • Administrator - Access Policy Unenforced

  • Data Center Manager - Access Policy Enforced

  • Power User - Access Policy Enforced

  • Read Only User - Access Policy Enforced

User is Not in the Assigned Group
When configuring access policies in Hyperview you can opt to set specific users or user groups to the policy. If you chose to configure an access policy with a user group, make sure that the user is part of that group in order to enforce the access policy rules for them. You can assign a Hyperview user to a group from the account management portal as an administrator.
