Why can't I place a discovered rack-mountable asset into a rack?

I ran a discovery which automatically created assets in Hyperview. When I try to move the assets into their respective rack RU locations, I don't have the option to do so. Why can't I place an asset into a rack?

The most common reason that an asset cannot be moved into a rack is that it is missing the Consumed Rack Units property value. This usually occurs if you discover a device that is not populated in the Hyperview model catalog.

When a non-supported model is discovered, then a model is automatically populated in the catalog for it to allow an asset to be created from the discovery. Unfortunately, it is extremely rare that the discovered data from the device will identify the size and shape of the model. Since that information is missing from the discovered device, then the Consumed Rack Units property for the device is left empty.

To resolve this we recommend that you either;

A. Manually create the model in the Hyperview catalog and provide a Consumed Rack Units property. Then either rediscover the asset or manually change the model on the asset from the discovery sourced model to the user created model.

B. Manually enter a Consumed Rack Units property for the specific device from the asset's Information > Properties page.

C. Contact Hyperview Support through a Helpdesk ticket and request that model changes or additions be made.

Tip: You can always check the source of a model by editing the model property of an asset. The source field will indicate whether the asset is using an Application Model (Catalog), User Model, or Discovery Model.
